About Marc Berman
Serving the 23rd District in the California State Assembly is deeply personal. I was fortunate to grow up in Palo Alto, attend excellent public schools with fantastic teachers, live in a safe community and, on the many times I hurt myself as a rambunctious kid, have access to world class healthcare.
However, growing up here in the 80s and 90s, it was also clear to me how many of my friends, classmates, and soccer teammates who lived in nearby communities did not get the same opportunities I had because of societal inequities and injustices that built up over decades.
That's why, after living all over the country for college, work, and law school, I moved back home to continue my career in public service. I was elected to the Palo Alto City Council, where I led the effort to increase the minimum wage for struggling workers, repair the city’s crumbling roads, and build two new fire stations and a new public safety building.
