About Matt Dorsey
Supervisor Matt Dorsey was elected in 2022 against the backdrop of a record-shattering crisis in accidental drug overdose deaths in San Francisco. Matt is the first self-identified member of the substance use recovery community to serve on the Board of Supervisors in a generation.
Matt Dorsey serves as the Supervisor of San Francisco’s District 6, consisting of SoMa, Mission Bay, East Cut, and Treasure Island. A daily cyclist and Muni-rider, Matt is also a Member of the San Francisco County Transportation Authority and President of the Treasure Island Mobility Management Agency.
Since his election, Matt has been a relentless force for a safer, healthier San Francisco. Drawing on his own lived experience, he championed and passed landmark “Recovery First” legislation, which enshrines long-term remission through recovery as San Francisco’s primary substance use disorder policy goal — a historic shift away from the failed harm-reduction-only status quo.
